What Would Ned Stark Do?

If you’re going to pass the sentence, you should be prepared to swing the sword.

Some mistake greatness with being dynamic or having charisma (which is derived from a latin term meaning “divinely inspired gift”). Most times, I do like my leaders with a heaping spoonful of ego (and a sprinkle of moxy on top) but what I’ve found I like even more are the two traits Ned Stark had; character and consistency. Those two traits are what makes a leader undeniably great.

Character, for me, is when a leader has integrity. They know what they believe and they don’t just talk about it, they live it.

Consistency provides stability. If you’re consistent as a leader, there is no mystery in following you. I like a good mystery but not in wondering what you’re going to do or how you’re going to react.

On this week’s episode of Leadership Happy Hour, I get to continue my Game of Thrones and Leadership discussion with good friend and leadership expert, David Dye. We hit on character, consistency, and being the leader your team needs you to be. Listen in!
