What’s YOUR Army Of The Dead?

Blockbuster had Netflix. Print media had online. I’ve got my ex-wife. No matter how safe we think we are, we’ve all got an Army of the Dead to contend with and, if we’re not savvy on how to ACT, we’ll be gone.

This season’s Game of Thrones ended much too quick for me. I sat there, at the last episode, wishing there was more to come and that I didn’t have to wait SOOOO long for to find out what happens next. So, I thought….why don’t I just bring some AWESOME, really smart people on my podcast to talk about the two things I like talking about….Leadership and Game of Thrones!

This week I got to talk with Ken Okel. Ken has a background in Television and knows how to get things done under pressure. Our conversation his on a lot of different leadership lessons but what struck me the most profound is what I started with…that we all have an Army of the Dead to contend with.

Maybe the Army coming after you isn’t as large as the one on the show or even work related. Regardless, it’s coming and on the march. Maybe it’s the relationship you’re in that needs work. Perhaps your finances are out of whack. Maybe you’ve been ignoring the gnawing feeling that something with your system isn’t working just like it should. Believe me, that army is marching toward you and, if you don’t do something, it will be too late. You need to ACT!

Ask The Questions. Sit back and really reflect what is and what is not going on. You can’t ignore an army on the march. With my recent surgery (due to a perforated bowel), I knew something was wrong with my body for about a month prior but I ignored that army (and it nearly killed me).

Consult the Team. All of us are smarter than one of us. I will freely admit I don’t have all the answers. I am sometimes so close to a problem that I can’t see an obvious answer right in front of my face. Secondly, a lot of times we think we’re all alone in an issue until we reach out and find that others have gone through the same thing. Consult the team for more answers and more solutions.

Take Action! Knowing what to do is one thing. Actually doing something is completely different. Even if a step is a step in the wrong direction, as Ken Okel said in our interview, it’s never too late to pivot or turn around (and learn something in the process).

ACT now on the army that is coming for you because, believe me, it’s coming. Winter is here.
